Water Quantity Monitoring
The following graphs provides information about water levels in the Arrowsmith Dam Lake as well as water levels and discharge rates for the Englishman River. The Arrowsmith Dam Lake is monitored remotely by a transducer, and weekly by manual measurements. The trandsucer is located at Level 0.00 m and the 'top of the spillway' is at Level 27 m. If the bottom of the lake is V-shaped, the water level drop should start accelerating whenever the area does not receive sufficient precipitation. Official information for the Arrowsmith Dam can be obtained from the Arrowsmith Water Service's web site. [Download the pdf file for the actual readings.]
The remaining graphs which follow show the monthly readings for the Englishman River as well as a year-to-date graph (last graph). Official data for the Englishman River can be viewed at the Environment Canada web site. [To see the graph, select 'British Columbia' for the province, the station name or number, then choose the parameters of interest.] Please note that as of August 12, 2004, the target discharge level was lowered from 1.6 to 1.2 m3/s. We believe that the levels were lowered because the target discharge rate of 1.6 m3/s could not be sustained.
